Peter 1932-1999

He was the fifth child of six, four  boys and two girls born to Ivor and Helena Griffiths. He was born on 20th October 1932 at 45 Betws Road, Ammanford and was the youngest of twins by 25 minutes with his sister Peggi.

He died in Chesterfield Royal Hospital on his 67th birthday on 20th October 1999.


Eveline Teresa nee Ambrose

Born Eveline Teresa Ambrose in 1931 at Samaria, Golden Grove, Carmarthenshire.

Father:- William Thomas Ambrose a carpenter on the Cawder Estate.

Mother:- Dorothy Mary Ambrose nee Lewis.

Peggy Griffiths was born at 45 Bettws Road, Ammanford on the 20th October 1932. She was the elder by 25 minutes and the twin of my father. The second daughter and 4th child of Ivor and Helena. In her teens she worked at Corgi in Ammanford before moving to London to live and work with her aunt Sybil Roberts nee Evans her mother’s sister. She attended various Welsh societies where she met her future husband William Newbury (Bill) who was born in Maesteg in 1920. They married in London in 1956 before moving back to Ynusybwl. Peggy was a cook at the local school. They had two children Dudley and Rhianydd. Dudley is the Welsh television S4C celebrity chef.

Peggy died in 1993 and Bill in 1997.

William John Ambrose (John) was born on 21st January 1925 at Croesfwlch, Golden Grove, Carmarthenshire. During WW2 John was a flight engineer on Lancaster Bombers and was shot down over Italy. He was so impressed by the Lancaster Merlin engines that he named his son after them. After the war he became a policeman and after being promoted to Sergeant was a police trainer at Bridgend. After having stints in Ammanford and Carmarthen police stations he moved to Llandeilo police station retiring there and taking up the Ministry becoming a Methodist Minister. He died on 31st March 1998 at Prince Phillip Hospital Llanelli 

Elizabeth Sarah Margaretta Ambrose (Betty) was born on 6th December 1928 at Croesfwlch, Golden Grove, Carmarthenshire. She trained as a nurse and married Idwal Isaac in Golden Grove Church in 1950. She died in 1993.
